A bungling bigamist was caught after his wife saw pictures of him marrying his second bride on Facebook.

Andrew McLeod-Baikie, 52, from Pembrokeshire, south Wales, was seen smiling for the camera in snaps of his big day with new wife Helen.

But the pictures came as a shock to existing wife Susan, who called police after a friend alerted her to the wedding shots.

McLeod-Baikie appeared before magistrates in Haverfordwest and was fined £400 after pleading guilty to bigamy .

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan said: “The first wife was informed by a friend that she had seen pictures of the wedding of the defendant and another female.

“He informed her he had divorced her online two years previously.”

The court heard father-of-four McLeod-Baikie told police he paid £600 for an online divorce from Susan four years ago.

But the divorce wasn’t official before he remarried to his second wife Helen.

Mark Layton, defending, said McLeod-Baikie paid £600 to get a divorce online.

He said: “He presented the paperwork to the vicar who married them. It was quite a large function, and he was not secretive about it.

“He should have paid more attention to the paperwork. Clearly the decree absolute had not been granted.”

Mr Layton said that the bigamist would have to end his illegal second marriage, and remarry Helen once his divorce was finalised.

McLeod-Baikie, of Cresselly, Pembrokeshire, was also ordered to pay £400 court costs.
