Former Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, who was recently granted bail after spending four day in detention, has said his recent travail with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is part of his “struggles” of life, noting that it is part of the hazards of being a public figure.

It would be recalled that On Tuesday, July 7, 2015 the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested the former governor and two of his sons for allegedly stealing billions of nairabelonging to the state government.

Lamido and his sons were arraigned in court and remanded in Kano prison after being docked on a 28-count charge of corruption and money laundering.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, July 16, 2015, Lamido said only those who were in prison with him would understand what he and his son passed through.

He noted that his outspoken nature has brought him many enemies, Lamido said: “It is difficult to share my
prison with anyone because it’s not like hunger or something tangible. You have to be in there to feel what I and my children went through.”

He said ;“I’m not new to detention, it’s all part of struggle for life. If the purpose is to humiliate, well that’s part of the hazard of occupying public office,”.
